Tiger’s Nest Temple, also known as Taktshang Palphug Monastery, is a Buddhist temple complex located in Bhutan. It is a popular tourist destination in the country, known for its beautiful architecture and its location atop a cliff, which requires a hike to reach. The temple is located in the Paro valley and is considered a sacred site in Bhutan, as it is believed to be the place where the founder of Buddhism in Bhutan, Guru Rinpoche, meditated in the 8th century.
Bhutan tiger nest temple is the most beautiful of all the Buddhist attractions in Bhutan. The temple sits on a cliff overlooking a gorge, where you can see a herd of grazing red panda as they pass your view and enter the sacred mountain cave behind the temple. The walk up this steep trail is not for everyone; footwear and weather conditions should be considered before visiting this shrine.
Climbing up the steep stone steps of Tiger’s Nest Temple is a mind-blowing experience. Located in remote Kham Valley, this Buddhist monastery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most sacred monasteries in Bhutan.
There are many different ways to reach Tiger’s Nest but the most popular is an easy hike from Jhongling village. The trek takes roughly two hours and climbs 500 feet up a steep trail that runs through dense jungles and past water falls. At the end, you’ll find yourself overlooking another amazing view with Bumthang’s Himalayan mountains as patches of clouds moving past them. This is a great place for relaxing and enjoying nature.
